My name is Kelly. I’m 29 and live just outside DC in Northern VA. I formerly blogged at Mrs in Training, and am in the process of transitioning to my new name and the WordPress platform, so please hang in there with me during this process! Why the name change? Read about what Modern Camelot means here.
I’m obsessed with shoes, parties, fashion, home decor, baking, and making out with my husband. I am politically conservative and a vocal Libertarian, a converted Catholic, and terribly old fashioned. I curse with alarming frequency, I’m the first to suggest daytime drinking or a 6th round of shots, and I have been known to throw parking lot dance parties. I am perpetually late. I also think that when people are late, it is horribly rude and an insult to the people that you are meeting, that their time isn’t worth the effort to be punctual. So basically, I’m an asshole.
Tyler and I are high school sweethearts and started dating in 2000. He’s romantic and sexy and god-loving and spontaneous and HILARIOUS and compassionate. He surprises me constantly with how he has evolved as a man, and I find I like him doubly more each day. If I could crawl inside his arms and live there for the rest of my life, I’d be a very happy woman.
He has standing monthly tattoo appointments and would wear his Redskins dunks and jersey every day if I did laundry regularly. I never leave the house without full make up and preferably a pair of tall heels. He hates to travel. I regularly schedule girl’s trips to satiate my need for a change in scenery. We are opposites in every possible sense of the word and are deliriously happy.
I have a large group of friends and sorority sisters that I can count on absolutely. They know everything terrible about me and still manage to like me, so I would do anything for them in return. My favorite evenings have been spent with our nearest and dearest around the fire pit in front of our house, listening to music, chugging Bud Light, and scarfing hot dogs.
I have two Bichon Frises, Holly and Kimchi. The best example of Holly is that she will only eat her food off a plate – never in a bowl. I like her better than 99% of people. Kimchi is insane, and her favorite past time is running down the hallway and slamming her head into the front door. Perhaps I’m insane too, I still manage to like her better than maybe 98% of people. We are involved with our local Bichon Frise rescue organization and have fostered many pups over the last few years.
After several years of infertility, I was blessed with the birth of a daughter, Guinevere Ann in June 2011. She is my best friend, and a little mini-me. God help us all.
