I adore holidays and traditions, and Easter is the one holiday for which we actually don’t have any traditions. As a child, Tyler’s Easter basket consisted of just candy. I recall mine having a lot of candy as well, and also some outside toys – a basket for my bike, a Skip Hop, new sidewalk chalk, etc. We planned to do the same for Guinevere, but she’s such a candy fiend, we skipped most of that and went for some smaller items. But to make it more fun – we sent her on a hunt to find her Easter basket.
We tied a piece of yarn to her bedroom door, and the next morning had her follow it all over the house until she found her basket. It was so much fun! We videotaped it, and sped it up to remember the fun hunt. This will definitely be a fun tradition for years to come
After we found her basket, we headed to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, at her request. She wore her jammies and bunny ears, and the biggest smile.
We then headed to my aunt’s house for dinner. Guinevere wore the same dress that I wore as a kid, to the same aunt’s wedding. She looked adorable.
We came home, let her ride her new Power Wheels for a little while (she is a daredevil!) and then she explained to us how the Easter Bunny isn’t real. When we asked where her presents came from, she told us that a human in a bunny costume brought it to her. Never a dull moment with this one!
Hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday!
