I went on my first business trip last month, for six days to Fort Lee. I packed my nice camera and tripod and was excited to get some cute pictures of work outfits. I also severely underestimated how much “work” would be involved on the work trip – like, 15 hour days. I was gone before the sun was up and home after it set, so all I could snag were some terrible quality iPhone picture shots.
However, there has been some interest in the work outfits I post on Instagram, so I figured I’d post the ones from my trip here. Now I can pretend I actually post about fashion sometimes. I didn’t think to snag the first day, so here’s Tuesday through Friday. You can also see that I quickly saw how casual the environment was, so my planned suit/pantyhose combos quickly became less casual. I was still the most overdressed 😉
Dress | Blazer | Heels: Aldo (almost identical)
*Search “pink tweed” on site to find the Petite versions at crazy discount – for some reason neither Regular nor Petite sizing are showing up in the regular menus.
In the evenings, I’d try to change for dinner. I was so excited to get to meet up with the beautiful and sweet Lindsay from Let the Light Shine blog for dinner one night –
And meeting Tori from Tori & La Bella Vida – we’ve “known” each other via social media for like 5 years so it was amazing to finally get to meet her in person!
Overall, I did overpack a bit. I had quite a few casual outfits – in my mind, I’d be off work at 5 every day and have time to go to dinner, get a pedicure, see a movie. Instead, I did find myself still dressing somewhat business casual in case I ran into some co-workers and just in general wanting to be more professional. I also had all formal business suits and could have stuck with regular business suits that mix and match. I head back again in June for a week, so I’ll be much better prepared this time around 😉
