The best part of a kid that is pretty small has been being able to stretch her wardrobe. Last Christmas, she got to wear all of the holiday clothes from the previous year. This summer, she wore all last year’s dresses and rompers. And even last Fall’s dresses still look cute on her. She was almost 18 months last Fall, but this dress is a size 9 month. Its obviously a little shorter than a traditional smocked Bishop dress, but I actually think the shorter length is more appropriate for an active 28 month old. Heck, maybe next year she can wear it as a shirt.
She was a riot at dinner this night. Her sense of humor has really emerged lately – like when I ask her what she wants for dinner and she passionately replies – without a sound. Moving her mouth and lips as if she is talking, and pretending to be perplexed when I say that I can’t hear her, so pretending to yell. It cracks me up every time.
Or when I tell her that its time for a nap, but she responds that she can’t nap, because she doesn’t have any yawns.
While coloring and waiting for our food, the opening strains of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” came on, and I commented, “Mommy likes this song” and started to sing “I came in like a…” and Guinevere jumped in “WRECKING BALLLLLL.” And I looked at her and said, “You know this song?!” And she shrugs and goes “I just remember it.”
She never ceases to amaze me.
Did you notice something missing in these pictures? Not to worry, they were never far from reach –
I was able to bribe her beloved pair pants and sister pants away (and bribe a few smiles) with the promise of a lollipop once we sat down to our table. Tyler says I need to quit with the lollipop bribes but I get SO MUCH DONE with lollipops in my life. I always keep a huge handful in my bag at all times. It will be harder on me than her to give these up.
Still, its pretty awesome going out with her these days. Especially restaurants, where she is usually able to find an adoring audience of people to tell her how cute she is. She loves that. We usually take 10 minutes to leave because she stops at (or gets stopped by) seriously every table on the walk out to say “Goodbye! See you later! Don’t be sad!” (a la Yo Gabba Gabba’s ending song).
This kid. My hands are full and I love every second of it.
