On Sunday, Guinevere and I drove up to Maryland to celebrate my godsister’s graduation from Nursing school. It was a beautiful party, and my aunt and godmother truly outdid themselves. They made jokes about trying to pull off a party like I do, but theirs was perfect. An adorable candy buffet with pretzel sticks decorated with candy melts to look like thermometers and “cotton ball” marshmallows, and little dipped Oreos with red crosses. They had banners, and labels, and even “urine sample” lemonade – which Guinevere loved, ha! I am so sad I didn’t get pictures of everything set up.
As expected with a large party, it was hard to spend time to catch up with everyone – especially when I spent most of the party chasing around my toddler – but it was really good to just be around family. I love seeing how excited Guinevere is to see my parents and my sister, and how comfortable she is around my godfamily and cousins. My three cousins were essentially my brothers growing up (and I often refer to them as such) and I would have never ever ever pictured them taking to my daughter the way they have, and yet – they do. And I love that she has these built-in uncles that I’m confident will always be there if she needs them when she’s older.
So on that note, I’m just going to shut up and show pictures of Guinevere in the cutest outfit in the entire world. Its a size 6-9 month, so I probably can’t cram her into it much longer, but dang do I love it. And her.
I showed this next picture to Tyler and asked what he’d caption it – and he responded exactly as I thought he would, “MY pants!” in a growly toddler voice, complete with a snatching action to hold them close. If you’ve missed other posts, Guinevere’s lovey/security object is a pair of pajama pants, and she takes them everywhere – they must be within touching distance at all times. So you see them a lot in pictures of her 😉
I also love these pictures of the boys on the swing with her. She was in heaven getting to sit with them, and I love how sweet they were with her. Also, my cousin on the right is single (the one on the left is too, but he is so busy living life I don’t see him settling down yet!) So if there are any cute girls out there in the NOVA-area looking for a really good guy, I think he’s about due a little matchmaking 😉 Luckily, he doesn’t read this blog, or I might die. His mom does though…we’ll see what she thinks!
And lastly – oh man, this girl. Any time I think I know how much I love her, my heart just grows and grows. She has made me so very proud to be her mama. Also? Look how BIG she is! I know she’s a peanut for her age considering that she is about to turn 2 and is wearing a 6-9mo outfit and size 3 toddler shoes, but I think she looks so gigantic now – how was she in my belly two short years ago?!
