But neither does Prince William, so maybe its a royalty thing? 😉
Tyler and I started talking about engagement long before actually getting engaged. Mostly at my urging (he would have been happy to date a few more years), and I had some strong opinions about what sort of ring I wanted.
Fortunately, Tyler went out and bought the ring without me back in 2007, and he completely exceeded even my own expectations of what I wanted. It is still the most beautiful ring I have ever seen.
There are diamonds all around the sides, and I knew I wanted a fancy custom band to show all of the pretty details. In 2008, we built our home, and moved in two months before the wedding, so I didn’t think a custom wedding band was really a financial priority. So when we exchanged rings and vows on August 2, 2008, we just used my engagement ring.
In 2010, Tyler surprised me with a trip to the jewelers where he had my engagement ring custom made, and we had two, matching sparkly bands also custom made for the ring, and had it all soldered together into one gorgeous piece. It didn’t seem possible, but I fell in love with that ring even more.
