I LOVE IT! This winter, we had a very different vision for the room, and I cannot tell you how many nights Tyler and I spent bickering trying to pick out furniture for this room. We couldn’t find anything we liked in our self-imposed budget, and so finally, we just put in some overtime at work, saved a little more to up our budget, and now we’re both SO happy. Its such a different direction, but still completely “us”.
I adore the contrast of the seafoam-y silver green walls with the charcoal couch, mustard fabrics, and teal lamps.
LOVE having additional seating over here, and these chairs are SO comfy! You can also see Guinevere’s toys – I like that when you look into the room, you can’t see them, so it keeps the room looking a lot more polished.
The shelves are lined with a dark gray fabric, and I plan to keep them full of white knickknacks. The middle row of white boxes are movies (sorted by genre!) and the bottom two shelves have two baskets of toys, throw blankets, and the books that I don’t want Guinevere to help herself to (paper pages).
Art needs to be re-spaced – ack! This picture is driving me nuts. But I LOVE the way the prints turned out! Etsy seller Etched and Sketched did a color match for me of these four chair prints to the curtains and lamps, that are Herman Miller silhouettes. You can’t have a midcentury living room without some Eames action 😉 I think they are an awesome statement piece! And the center silhouette with our names is from Etsy seller Apple Blossom Prints, and I’m blown away with how perfectly they all coordinate. I also like the way the new fan looks (although installing it and dealing with customer service was a nightmare I hope to never have to relive).
I think my favorite part is how the entire space looks like adults live here, but it is practical for Guinevere, too. We store all her board books in the coffee table, and she loves to help herself to them, and then I can’t help but swoop in for snuggles and a 4089907th rendition of “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” or “Monster at the End of This Book”.
I still have four tiny things that still need to be done – the far right cabinet is still white, because I ran out of fabric, so as soon as I track that down, I will line it also. We are also waiting on a large white ceramic deer head that will hang on the wall, and I need to hem the curtains (they are just pinned now). I also want to order one more curtain panel and make pillows for the two chairs out of the fabric, and also use it to make a roman shade for the kitchen window. But I was too excited to not share everything so far
